Curcumin

Curcumin is the primary bioactive compound found in turmeric (Curcuma longa). While curcumin itself is classified as a polyphenol (curcuminoid) rather than a classic flavonoid, it functions synergistically with flavonoids and shares many of the same biological pathways—especially in inflammation control, antioxidant defense, and cellular protection.
